Yes, it is possible to register vehicles with foreign licence plates just as easily as those with Icelandic plates.
What rules apply to foreign drivers driving cars with Icelandic licence plates?
They are subject to the same rules as other users. Everyone who travels through the tunnel must pay a toll. If the vehicle has not been registered through tunnel.is it is possible to pay for a single trip up to/but no later than three hours after traveling through the tunnel. If no action is taken the toll charge will be billed to the registered owner of the vehicle with an added collection fee.
